Good product, needs good sharpener
It's a good formula, but it has one drawback. To get the most out of it you absolutely MUST have a good quality eyeliner sharpener made for makeup. A standard pencil sharpener will not work, I tried both a hand twist office sharpener and an electric office sharpener. Things made for wood pencils will not cut it on this plastic. They get jammed and the liner becomes crumbly and unusable. I definitely wasted like a third of my first stick trying to figure out how to sharpen it, they need to advertise or package a sharpener with these guys. Get yourself a cheapy makeup sharpener. I'm using a basic Revlon hand twist liner sharpener with the smallest hole, pencil sharpens better than new. Assuming you've found a good sharpener, it goes on more finely and with more control than a Nyx's mechanical eyeliners, and it's less prone to moving. It's not 100% smudge proof, you can work it a little bit if you prefer. Great for soft kitten eyes, small wings, and a soft smudged out look. I'd stick with a liquid eyeliner for more extreme wings. Lock it down with a setting spray when you're done playing to keep it from moving. Micellar water or oil based cleanser to get it off. I'm quite happy with the product, sharpener issues aside. I'll be picking up a few more colors.

No sharpen pencil
The lady at the store said to try this new pencil. Works great. And yes it does. Stays on all day glides on. However now I need more from the pencil and I can't get the pencil to move up. Even went on-line here in an effort to figure it out. I am not the only one complaining about this issue. There is no way to sharpen it. So I assume I have to twist it up. But nothing happens. So sad.

SHARPEN THE CAP LIKE A NORMAL PENCIL, LADIES
I was mad when i got home and tried to raise it like a twist liner pencil, but I too was mistaken. Sharpen it with a sharpener just like a normal liner sharpener. ;) Do not be deceived by the plastic.

can't sharpen it
I bought the self-sharpening pencil and expected it to be self-sharpening. It's not. I have tried turning the top part to advance the tip but that does nothing. Am I supposed to dig the product out or what? There is nothing self-sharpening about this thing. It was my first purchase of an NYX cosmetic. Never again.

I can't get the cap off of my eyeliner
I bought this in white yesterday at a drug store and peeled off the plastic. Then I tried to pull the cap off and it wouldn't open. I asked my boyfriend to open it and he couldn't get the cap off either. My guess is that bacteria have somehow made it under the cap and now it's pressurized. I may go in with pliers just to see how much it really takes to get the darn cap off. Seriously, I think the pencil will snap before this cap comes off. I'm disappointed because I really need a white pencil for this weekend. Sign. I guess it's back to the drugstore for a different brand. Grrrrrr. What a waste of money.

My go-to eye liner
This is my favorite eye liner, hands down! It's smooth, yet I can go a full shift (outdoor bar) without it running or smudging! All it takes is a make up remover wipe and its gone!!
Also, your best option is to buy the NYX brand pencil sharpner in my opinion as it works best with this pencil. I very rarely leave reviews, but I HAVE to for this eyeliner! The pencil lasts forever so you get bang for your buck! Just don't expose it to sun or heat and you'll be set. I always carry it around with me!

another disappointing eyeliner
1. the top was jammed on so tight the tip broke off when I finally opened it. 2.I assumed it was a twist up - no. I read the reviews online and tried the traditional pencil sharpener. What a joke. I started with a challenge since the tip had totally broken off - but sharpeners are made for PENCILS - not this soft crayon. Still haven't gotten it anywhere close to a point. The packaging should clearly state that this is not a twist up. very unhappy

I began buying NYX products because I use only cruelty free beauty products. This particular product was very disappointing compared to other NYX products I have used. The color and texture were good, however I only got a couple of uses out of this product because the little part at the bottom of the tube that needs to turn in order to move the product up was defective. I also bought a lipliner with the same packaging and that was also defective. Very disappointing as it means the product is unusable. I broke the tube in half so I could take out the liner and use it until the replacement I ordered from a different brand arrives.

Can't get more liner out when tip runs out!
I just purchased this and absolutely love the color and how it stays on! However, there seems to be no way to get more out once the tip is used up! You twist the bottom and nothing happens! It does not appear to be sharpenable as the outer edge is hard and not wooden. Help???

Love how easy it goes on but after a handful of uses pencil will not come out anymore. Purchased another one yesterday, broke the tip because almost impossible to pull the cap of, and guess what! Bottom turns but no more pencil comes out. Lot of money for nothing!

Not retractable, but the bottom turns as if it is
Am conflicted on this review because the actual eyeliner applies well, is a great color, stays on all day, and the price is right. The problem is that the pencil is not retractable (meaning, you can't twist the bottom and more liner comes out), but the product is misleading (at least to me) because the bottom of the pencil twists, leading one to think the pencil IS retractable. All this to say, you have to sharpen the pencil with a sharpener. I'm reading reviews that say folks didn't have success using a sharpener with this pencil, but I guess I'll try it for myself.
